A farmhouse needs to show all of your quaint, old collectibles.
The exposed beam above the kitchen counter is an important place to hang all the
large jars, pots and baskets.
The lower cabinets doors hide many pull-out shelves behind
their wallpapered or or pierced tin inserts. These inserts add color to the
kitchen. Cabinet doors can also be flush, glass or paneled. A maple top serves
as the counter to the left of the sink.
Note the base cabinet is set out at least 2 and 1/2 inches,
then a full 1x4 or 2x6 is placed on top of the backsplash, covering the space.
Note also, the set-back of the cabinet below the kitchen sink for foot space or
a stool. The herringbone brick floor adds a touch of age and the extra touch
needed to make this a "Country Kitchen."
